Hello Laura - a wee while back I went looking for the MoH evidence on blockers, and wrote up my findings (just pasted them into my stack). I have a feeling one of your earlier pieces was what inspired me to look a little deeper. Anyway - bit of a house of cards. It’s heartening to hear that there are doctors brave enough to try and get some dialogue going.
Thanks - it's good that more people are looking into this. In 2021, the UK National Institute for Clinical Excellence found that the evidence supporting the use of puberty blockers was of "very low" quality, which supports your conclusion that the MoH's advice is hard to justify. Gender Clinic News also recently published a very critical evaluation of the PATHA guidelines that the MoH appears to have relied on, which you might be interested in.
Health consumers should consider this evidence carefully because those professionally charged with doing so within the New Zealand health policy system have not done so.
The abrogation of professional standards of evidence based Medicine in favour of abject managerialism is harming our children .
It is horrendous that the (supposedly wiser) adults who are in positions of power where they are paid to look out for people ... are instead reinforcing the idea that there is something wrong with the bodies of these distressed people rather than helping them to resolve themselves to WHAT they are and to be PROUD OF THEIR SEX. It is time these privileged professionals spoke up and protected our young and vulnerable ... as they are paid to do. Thank you for your clarity and compassion Laura.
Charlotte Paul is a shero. Hopefully, more sheroes and heroes will follow her.

Bloody hell. I wonder what percentage of our official health guidelines are pretty much just made up? It’s rather unnerving.

It pays to remember that puberty blockers are but one small step to propping up your body as a lifelong medical patient. And they don't change your sex either. https://lucyleader.substack.com/p/looking-back-from-the-future
